Sourdough Evenings- Canvas

This piece is inspired by slow nights with my mom and sisters, making sourdough together and sitting down to eat it while it was still warm. We would have it with butter, cheese, and jam, simple things, but it always felt like so much more than that.




I wanted this painting to feel calm and soft, like those nights. The warm tones in the bread and butter against the cooler background create that quiet contrast, like warmth in the middle of everything else slowing down. The brushstrokes are loose and a little textured to keep that feeling of something homemade and real.




There’s nothing complicated about this moment, and that’s exactly why it means so much. It’s just being together, taking your time, and enjoying something you made with your hands. This piece is about that kind of peace.
